Heritage Pointing

Restoring listed and historic buildings, using a variety of limes, sands and techniques.

I am a specialist bricklayer with a focus on heritage restoration.

I use traditional lime mortars and techniques to preserve the character and integrity of historic buildings. Committed to craftsmanship that respects the past and stands the test of time.

There are different types of lime mortar we may end up using. From natural hydraulic lime to hotlime and everything in between we’ll make sure we’re using the right lime and aggregate for the job.

We can work this out ourselves, send samples off to a lab or be guided by one of the expert surveyors I have a good relationship with as often on a listed property the conservation officer won’t know which lime to go with.

I’m experienced at multiple styles of pointing, from flush to recessed and birds beak to weatherstruck. I am competent at tuck-pointing and more obscure styles such as penny-rolled. Sometimes the original building has an idiosyncratic style, which I will emulate.
